It has just been announced that our Director, Annie Summun, has been selected by the judges as a finalist in the Women in Housing 2018 awards. She is a finalist in the category of ‘Board / Committee member of the Year’ and has achieved this as a result of the work that she does for the Federation of Master Builders (FMB).She was elected on to the London Board of the FMB in 2015, representing members in the London region. She was invited to join the FMB Training Group, and represented FMB members who are mainly small construction companies on the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) Levy Working Party.Becoming increasingly involved with the FMB, Annie has represented the UK building industry at a wide variety of events and meetings ranging from the Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy and the Department of Education through to No 10 Downing Street and live on the BBC.
Sarah McMonagle, Director of External Affairs at the Federation of Master Builders said: “Annie has made waves since joining the FMB London Board and FMB Training Group. She is extremely passionate about increasing professionalism in the construction industry and attracting more people into our sector. Annie gives up much of her own time to contribute to the FMB’s lobbying and media relations on issues as broad ranging as apprenticeships, Brexit and retentions. Her achievements are many but what stands out is her sterling work on behalf of the FMB Training Group on the CITB Levy Working Party where she fought hard to ensure the voice of small construction firms was heard. Annie is a great role model for anyone who might be considering a career in construction, including, but not exclusively, women.”
